Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know for complete peace of mind.

Can I use maps.guru for free?

Absolutely! Our free tier includes 50,000 tile requests per month, access to all preset themes, basic AI customization, and 1 custom style. It's designed to be generous enough for prototypes, personal projects, and small apps. No credit card required.

What happens if I exceed my monthly limits?

We'll notify you when you reach 80% and 100% of your quota. Your maps will continue to work, but you'll need to upgrade to continue making requests. We never charge overage fees automatically. You stay in control.

Do you offer discounts for startups or nonprofits?

Yes! We offer 50% off for verified nonprofits and registered startups (under 2 years old with less than $1M in funding). Contact us at hello@invarya.com with your details.

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe. For Enterprise customers, we also support invoicing and bank transfers. Indian customers can pay via Razorpay.

Can I change plans or cancel anytime?

Yes, you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time. If you downgrade mid-cycle, you'll keep your current plan until the end of the billing period. No questions asked.

What's included in "AI customization"?

AI customization lets you describe your desired map style in natural language. For example, "make it look like a dark theme with neon highlights for a cyberpunk vibe." Free tier gets basic styling, while Pro and Enterprise get advanced iterations and fine-tuning.

Do you offer a self-hosted option?

Yes, our Enterprise plan includes a self-hosted option. You can run maps.guru on your own infrastructure for complete data control and compliance. Contact our sales team to learn more.

How does team collaboration work?

Pro plans include 5 team seats, and Enterprise includes unlimited seats. Team members can collaborate on styles, share projects, and have role-based permissions (admin, editor, viewer).

Billing terms, defined

What each number on this page actually counts.

What is Quota?

A quota is the number of requests a plan includes each calendar month, counted per service. maps.guru meters maps, geocoding, and routing separately, so a heavy tile month does not consume your geocoding allowance.

What is Free tier?

A free tier is the usage a plan grants at no cost before any charge applies. The maps.guru free tier includes 50,000 tile requests, 10,000 geocoding requests, and 10,000 routing requests per month, and does not require a card.

What is API key?

An API key is the credential that identifies your project on every request. maps.guru keys are prefixed mapx_, carry per-service scopes, and can be restricted to specific origins so a public key cannot be reused on another domain.

What is Pay-as-you-go?

Pay-as-you-go is billing where you are charged per request with no fixed monthly commitment. It suits spiky or seasonal traffic, but costs more per request than a subscription once volume becomes predictable.

What is Overage?

Overage is usage beyond a plan quota within a billing period. On maps.guru, requests past the quota are rejected rather than silently billed, so a traffic spike cannot produce a surprise invoice.
