Flex plan has overage billing for sessions and API requests

MapTiler Flex is a soft cap, usage beyond 25K sessions or 500K API requests incurs overage: $2.50/1K additional sessions, $0.15/1K additional API requests. A spike in traffic results in an unexpectedly larger bill that month.

Session-based billing makes budget calculation complex

MapTiler counts "sessions" (a map load that initiates tile requests) rather than individual tile requests. One map session = multiple tile requests (zoom, pan). Mapping your expected usage to session counts requires testing, making cost estimates less intuitive than per-tile pricing.
